Surround Yourself With Talented People
I have spent the best part of 2009 travelling, I have seen enough planes and airports to last me a lifetime! When I am away I usually spend a good 3 hours a day on the phone to the office and between every meeting I am checking e-mails, sales, servers, finance and everything else you could imagine. This time was different; I actually took a step back. I am very lucky to be surrounded by extremely talented and motivated people who really put our companies 1st above everything else. I am sure they were pretty happy that I wasn’t calling for hourly updates and firing questions left and right!
Whilst I was away; Just Host (our web hosting company) hit 3 record sales days and my secluded absence made my arrival back to the office more exciting than ever due to our extreme growth which has been quite amazing. They had started working on new ideas and systems that may not have started if I was there, each of them had stepped up and made great decisions on taking the company foward. My usual posts write about the exciting growth of our companies, although since I have been back and seen our great achievements all my excitement is focused around the great team we have built, which is ultimately the reason we have become such a success in such a short space of time.
Since running my 1st business when I was just 16 I have never given enough thought and credit to our employees and the teams which actually drive our businesses forward. I feel extreamly lucky to be surrounded with such a great group of talented people who share the same goals and passions as I do, without them what we have achieved just would not be possible.
I have gone slightly off the main reason for this post, but the point I am trying to make is that without talented and driven people working with you having great success will be hard to come by.
